Bye Bye
A sad but thankful goodbye to 12 AP
First, I would like to express my deepest appreciation to Mrs. Liamini. You've showed so much kindness and you were always there for every single one of us when we needed help. I'm grateful for you for being so welcoming and making me feel comfortable enough for you to read my common app essay. Thank you for being patient when Michael, Roger, Tanisha and I just wanted to rap Kanye West instead of discussing Exit West. You never wanted us to get overwhelmed with work and instead truly just wanted us to learn to enjoy reading and have a fun senior year. Will definitely be reading more this summer because of you:)
I'm extremely grateful to have read When Breath Becomes Air and enjoy the beautiful words of Dr. Kalanithi. This book has been my favorite I've read this year and maybe one of my favorites ever (well honestly this doesn't even say much about my thankfulness because I don't really read). This book has taught me gratitude and that I need to make the most of my life. It has also given me a deep insight into the emotional distraught that comes with battling a health disorder and also the harsh realities that comes with being a worker in the medical field.
I cannot leave 12 AP without mentioning Waiting for Godot. This was the only ICE I got a 100 on this year and it gave me that little boost of confidence right before the AP exam. It was pretty absurd and hard to follow at times (so definitely not one of my favorites), but I honestly enjoyed being able to write about it because there were never really any guidelines to follow when writing about Godot, and although I usually like having a set of instructions to follow, this play gave me a chance to write, think, and interpret more outside of the box.
Special thanks to The Vanishing Half for giving me a book to write about for the Q3 prompt on the AP test hahah
Happy to have stumbled across the excerpt from "Crying in H Mart" and the movie The Farewell. Both these works resulted in harkness discussions I thoroughly enjoyed because I felt like a lot of our class could relate to the themes discussed in both.
And last but definitely not least, I cannot begin to express my thanks to all my fellow peers in this class. You guys are all the reason for making 12 AP one of my favorites of high school and one that I've really enjoyed. I've loved winning the oedipus debate with you guys, our restorative circles, and our random talks about college and our future. Will definitely miss it.
